what comes next – mixed economy
Local live small scale
- People will gather. ’Cause we’re people and I suspect we’d pick gathering over travel.
- There will be some at the gatherings who are skilled and of the nature to perform and they will do so as a gift to group.[1] This is how theatre started and there’s little risk of that going away.
- The recent economies of this will not function in a distanced world. 30 people including the team don’t create the bar sales required. I’ve made those shows. And they are deeply rewarding and valuable. But they are in the gift economy that exchanges some money, though not enough to cover creation or living expenses.
Dudes with guitars, this does not make it open season, please. We know you’ve got some great Neil Young covers. ↩
